The YWCA of Palestine and the East Jerusalem YMCA’s deep-rooted
involvement in advocacy and their commitment to act as a
reliable source of information to their partners and friends
resulted in the formation of the Joint Advocacy Initiative
project in 2001.

This joint project, which was the first in the
history of the two organizations in their current structures, was
received positively within the NGO community in Palestine and abroad
since both organizations enjoy a very good reputation on the national
and international levels.
In
order to target the YWCA/YMCA local, regional, and international
movements and their constituencies –churches and church-related
organizations worldwide, as well as the Palestine community, the YWCA of
Palestine and the East Jerusalem YMCA have initiated and participated in
a number of campaigns, programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops on
the local, regional, and internationals levels.

The Olive Tree Campaign seeks to plant and replant trees in
areas where they have been uprooted or destroyed, or in areas
where the fields are threatened to be confiscated by the Israeli
Occupation Army or settlers. The campaign's goal is to plant
50,000 olive trees in Palestinian territories with the
sponsorships of YMCAs and YWCAs, as well as churches and other
groups and individuals around the world. |

Calls for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against Israel
until it complies with International law and universal
principles of human rights. This campaign is an appeal to
pressure your respective states to impose embargoes and
sanctions against Israel. We also invite conscientious Israelis
to support this call, for the sake of justice and genuine peace. |
