Vocational & educational program
Vocational training is comprised of three programs; Secretarial Training Program, Primary/Public Health Care Program, and Culinary Arts. By the end of each program, graduates earn a diploma that qualifies them to work in their field of study. It is worth mentioning that graduates from YWCA programs are in high demand in the labour market where the rate of employment for the YWCA graduates has increased about 85%.

Professional Development Courses
The Jerusalem Branch offers a number of short courses ranging from 32hrs long to 5 months long courses in languages, computer programs, cooking, executive secretary and many others.  These courses are run mornings and afternoons throughout the year.

Programs prerequisites
Enrolment in secretarial training program or in the primary health care program, students are required to meet the following criteria:
High school certificate (twelfth grade)
Successfully passing a qualifying exam that assesses students' English language competence and their mathematical knowledge
Participated in an intensive six weeks English and computer programs
To be enrolled in the food production
and service affiliates program, students must have completed basic education ninth grade
Secretarial training Program:

Academic Curriculum
This one-year program merges theory with practice. The academic three semesters, students ought to study the following three level courses (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced):

Practical Training
Practical training is an indispensable ingredient of the above-mentioned courses. Throughout the year, each teacher utilises the proper practical methodology for the session taught. There is one-month intensive-field training for all students who are placed in various establishments and organisations where they can put theory into practice.

 

 

Primary/Public Health Care Program
Academic curriculum:
YWCA developed a one-year health program that combines theory with practice.

Practical/Field Training
Field training is an indispensable component of this three-semester program. To gain a practical experience of what is being learnt in the class; students are being trained by professional doctors and nurses in the following health care centres:

Students are distributed on local hospitals “Alhilal” and “Almakased” and local clinics which are supervised by the Medical Relief Services where they do their practical component of the program under the direct supervision of the resident doctors and nurses. Rehabilitation and senior citizen care centres.

Food Production and Catering services
The unit in Jerusalem offers a variety of pastries and sweets for sale.  Also, it can offers business lunches or brunches upon request.

Culinary Arts Program
Academic Curriculum:

Practical Training
Most culinary arts students are trained in YWCA's kitchen. Those students are highly trained that a catering service has been developed. This service offers variety of pastries and cookies to YWCA’s members as well as the general public.
